Lilliputian Rock is the capital letter and most populous urban center of the U.South. country of Arkansas. The city's population was 202,591 in 2020 co-ordinate to the The states Census Bureau. As the county seat of Pulaski Canton, the city was incorporated on November 7, 1831, on the southward bank of the Arkansas River close to the state'southward geographic center. The metropolis derived its name from a rock germination along the river, named the "Piffling Rock" (French: La Petite Roche) past the French explorer Jean-Baptiste Bénard de la Harpe in 1722. The capital of the Arkansas Territory was moved to Picayune Rock from Arkansas Post in 1821. Fiddling Rock is a cultural, economical, government, and transportation eye within Arkansas and the South. Etymology
Little Rock derives its proper name from a pocket-sized rock formation on the due south banking company of the Arkansas River called the "Picayune Stone" (French: La Petite Roche). The Fiddling Rock was used past early river traffic as a landmark and became a well-known river crossing. The Petty Rock is across the river from The Big Rock, a large bluff at the edge of the river, which was once used every bit a rock quarry. [4]

Archeological artifacts provide evidence of Native Americans inhabiting Primal Arkansas for thousands of years earlier Europeans arrived. Footling Rock was named for a rock outcropping on the bank of the Arkansas River used past early travelers every bit a landmark. According to the United States Census Bureau, the urban center has a total surface area of 116.8 foursquare miles (303 km two ), of which 116.2 square miles (301 km 2 ) is land and 0.6 square miles (i.six km two ) (0.52%) is water.
Little Rock is on the south depository financial institution of the Arkansas River in Central Arkansas. Fourche Creek and Rock Creek run through the city, and menstruum into the river. The western part of the city is in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. Northwest of the urban center limits are Pinnacle Mount and Lake Maumelle, which provides Fiddling Rock's drinking water.
The city of North Piddling Rock is simply across the river from Little Stone, but it is a divide city. Due north Little Rock was in one case the 8th ward of Little Rock. Crime
In the late 1980s, Little Rock experienced a 51% increase in murder arrests of children under 17, and a twoscore% increment among 18- to 24-year-olds.
